Why we started
The short version of why Klap exists
Every crypto payments provider we tried asked us to trust it like a bank: send funds to its account, wait, and hope it forwards them. For a technology built to remove intermediaries, that felt backwards. So we built the payment layer we wanted to use ourselves, one that never holds anyone's money.
We're a small team shipping in the open. The rails are live in closed beta today, not a whitepaper promising them someday.
What Klap means
Keep Liquidity Always Permissionless. In Dutch and German, a klap is a sharp, instant strike — in English, a clap of approval. Both fit: a payment that settles the instant it's sent, with nothing standing between the payer and the merchant.
Pronounced KLAP — just like "clap", one syllable.
